{"id":524,"date":"2010-04-15T16:22:37","date_gmt":"2010-04-15T21:22:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tastytangents.com\/?p=524"},"modified":"2010-04-15T16:22:37","modified_gmt":"2010-04-15T21:22:37","slug":"giadas-torta-di-pasta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.tastytangents.com\/?p=524","title":{"rendered":"Giada&#8217;s Torta di Pasta"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_526\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/tastytangents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/torta_di_pasta_100413.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-526\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/tastytangents.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/torta_di_pasta_100413.jpg\" alt=\"Torta di Pasta served with Broccoli Rape\" title=\"torta_di_pasta_100413\" width=\"600\" height=\"358\" class=\"size-full wp-image-526\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-526\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Torta di Pasta served with Broccoli Rape<\/p><\/div>\n<p>So this is the second time I try <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnetwork.com\/recipes\/giada-de-laurentiis\/torta-di-pasta-recipe\/index.html\">this recipe<\/a> from the Giada De Laurentiis cookbook &#8216;Everyday Italian,&#8217; and it was completely different and just as delicious.<\/p>\n<p>The first time I tried the Torta di Pasta, which is essentially a pasta omelette, I substituted pre-made sun dried tomato pesto for whole sun dried tomatoes, and asiago for the fontina cheese.<\/p>\n<p>This time, I used macaroni pasta that had already been cooked and had plain tomato sauce on it. And for the cheese, I used a combination of ricotta salata, mozzarella, friulano and parmeggiano.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line is I think you could use just about any type of pasta and any combination of cheeses and you would get a delicious dinner that you can even make out of leftover pasta, as long as it&#8217;s not so saucy that it won&#8217;t stick together.<\/p>\n<p>The only trick is to scale back the amount of salt, depending on how strong the cheeses are that you&#8217;re using.<\/p>\n<p>To me, the hallmark of a great recipe that will turn into a regular staple in my kitchen is one that adapts to the ingredients you happen to have on hand, not one that requires ingredients you wouldn&#8217;t use for anything else.<\/p>\n<p>And I think this recipe falls into that category, making it an easy one dish, weeknight meal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So this is the second time I try this recipe from the Giada De Laurentiis cookbook &#8216;Everyday Italian,&#8217; and it was completely different and just as delicious.
